I had the busiest weekend. Friday was the Rodeo BBQ Cookoff with Ms. McDermott HERSELF – and her great friend Dallas!! As usual it was ridiculously crowded and so much fun. We have quotes for days that no one will understand, and that’s really the best sign of a decent night. We got into three tents and did some great people watching. Pictures below.
I received a gift from GOD AGAIN, and was not hungover the next morning, and so I had the most perfect Saturday morning with my Pop – Starbucks and walking around REI. There is no person in my life that makes me feel the way he does – best dad in the whole wide world.
Saturday night at the Race Track. It’s literally less than 1/4 of a mile from our place – good and bad all at the same time, ha! I made bets on three races – 2 races I WON!!! And my third….lost it all…. It was seriously so much fun. And ladies night – free admission and $2 wine?! I smell something dangerous. One blurry picture is the horses going through the finish line, lol…kind of a pointless picture. And the donkeys are Chip and Dip…outside the entrance of the track. Probably could’ve stayed out there the whole time and not even gone in, lol. #animallover
And just when you thought, surely, you didn’t do more – think again. Brunch at Triniti Restaurant – they were debuting a NEW brunch menu and omg. Everything was so yummy. I actually learned about it from Houston Tidbits, a newsletter I subscribe to that sends emails about things going on in the city – amongst others I subscribe to, this one has great stuff going on. Check them out.
Sunday night, Oscars recap – musical numbers, Jennifer Hudson and Barbara Streisand? My entire spectrum was filled. #happycamper
I need a blog schedule. I’ll figure that out.
The longer it takes to develop, the less likely it is to launch.
A super smart friend of mine posted this quote on her facebook, and man it struck a chord. Like looking in the mirror and not wanting to admit that you’ve been lazy, or self-conscious, or whatever the case may be for not doing something you’ve wanted to do.
So here it is. A blog. It’s not perfect…it’ll evolve over time. I mean, at least it’s pretty darn cute to start, right?? Cheers.
This post is soooo photo crazy, I just had to get all these off my phone. These pictures were taken at the following fabulous places (almost ALL in the month of December):
Escalante’s (Sugar Land), Flying Saucer (SL), Rockets game, UP (Highland Village), Hughes Hangar, 51 fifteen and Prohibition. I spent so much money on going out and clothesssss. That’s why almost this entire month of January I’ve been staying IN, lol. Enjoy!
This past December, I got shoes. Shoes that I’ve NEVER HAD BEFORE. Rain boots and CONVERSE, that’s right. The rain boots aren’t surprising. But after having a good conversation with my sister for a confidence BOOST, I realized I would most likely look adorable in a pair of the converse. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I do. So if you’re wondering why that’s the ONLY shoe you’ve seen me in (in all my pictures), now you know why. #obsession.
……..yes my shoes deserved their own blog post.
This is on the Tuesday night before we ALL had to go back to work – after Christmas and New Years. Mom and I get MAJOR vacation blues on the night before you go back to work, after you’ve had all this time off. SO WHAT DO WE DO TO REMEDY THIS, YOU ASK?? We always go out to eat the night before….and it’s always mexican food…and there are always margaritas. It’s our little way of pro-longing the holiday to its absolute last drop, lol. Here we are at El Tiemposssss.
Sarah had such a great birthday this year. Family night out at Escalante’s with some of the best friends she has (Sarah R. we missed you!!) Afterward we, Lizzy and myself, had a sleepover at their home, hit pinantas, drank wine, watched hilarious movies and YouTube videos — how have I gone almost a year without seeing the whole “ain’t nobody got time for that” video? I swear, I live under a rock sometimes.
We had the best goodies inside the pinata. When Meredith stuffs a pinata, she takes it seriously. We’ve got only the good candy – chocolates, snickers, rolos, resees, kit kats – and for fun I threw in some salty stuff (I always crave sweet and then salt) – cheez-its and popcorn. Seriously, who doesn’t love cheez-its.
How cute is Sarah with her sombrero on?! #melt.
Happy birthday to most wonderful person I know…xxoo
New Year’s Eve was a success. We met and slept at a friend’s house near downtown and decided to go to Royal Oak. We spent the larger part of our night pre-drinking and eating Whataburger. We had free entertainment by the lovely Kari Bloom and Erika Mathre Peters – kisses all around….it was a successful New Yrs.
Oh right, and we all looked freakin’ hot.
Kari and I can’t get enough pictures of ourselves. It is what it is. Look at the LOVE PECK.
This is the second year we’ve celebrated January 1st at a Denny’s/Le Peep type place. So I’m thinking this is going to be a tradition that sticks. I hope all of y’all had great New Yrs too!
Ahhhh something I look forward to every year : ) Christmas lights and BYOB — be there a better combination?
Lights in the Heights is SUCH a fun and unique event to Houston. The only this is, you definitely can’t attend this event and be in a HURRY. You and thousands of other ppl will be filling regular-sized streets, and you will all be traveling in the same direction. Up and down the most adorable streets in the Heights.
To no surprise……Otto was the main attraction at the event.
